Griffin has been with us for two weeks now! It is hard to believe how fast it happened.  We love him so much.

Cars

We tried to bring Griffin on a little car ride today and he was still so scared the whole time. We are going on a longer trip in a few weeks and we are trying to get him ready for it.

8.5 weeks old

Griffin has been with us eight days now. It is going very well. He started to pee on the carpet yesterday with me sitting next to him watching him. I ran him outside to finish. He hadn't had one accident in that whole first week with us so I thought he actually "got" it,  but he didn't even think twice about starting to go on the carpet.  He had his first vet appt on Friday and he weighed 5.8 pounds.  He got his second shot.  He cried the whole time in the vet assistant's arms.  Sophia, Helen and Tommy came to the first visit. They gave him a heartworm/dewormer pill and ear drops for a minor ear infection.

We started switching his food over from Purina Puppy Chow to Kirkland's brand(costco). He doesn't seem to mind. He's been doing more psycho puppy moments when he attacks us. No one likes it and cannot wait for him to outgrow it.

What a spoiled pup!

It's been five days

Griffin is such a good puppy!  Sunday night he slept from 10 pm-3 am and then woke up at about 5:30 and then for good around 8.  On Monday it was 10 pm-5 am and he went back to sleep til 8! Last night, Tuesday, he slept from about 10 pm- 11 pm and then1 am- 7 am.  He's learning "come" and "sit".  He's scared of dogs barking outside, lawmowers, cars passing, the vacuum cleaning, the shower running, and the washing machine running.  He's scared of people he doesn't know. It's cute the way he sits there and cries. But he warms up quickly. In the past few days he met a lot of new people.

We're going by some of the things in the "Before and After Puppy" book. And we are watching some youtube videos for training ideas.

Sometimes he goes a little crazy and starts biting everyone and everything. We aren't quite sure what to do with him when he does this. We make the noise we've chosen to tell him that we mean no, but it doesn't work. We try to distract him and give him his chew toys.  We'll just keep working on this.

He sleeps a lot during the day. Way more than I thought he would!

It's been a lot of work, but easier than I thought it would be. Let's hope we raise a good dog!

We got our cockapoo puppy, Griffin, yesterday from a breeder in Shenandoah, Virginia.   We showed up at 10 am to pick up our new baby.  He was very timid and sad at first. He slept on my daughter, Sophia's lap most of the way home, but also took a turn on mine and Jack's lap. When we got home at around at 11:30, he peed in the yard.  We tried to get him to eat but he didn't eat anything until about 6 pm.  He just sorta sat there depressed all afternoon.  He must have missed his mom, dad, and siblings.   He only peed maybe one other time that afternoon. He finally pooped around 7 pm, and it was like he became a new puppy. He started playing chase with the kids and perked right up.  He also ate and drank a bit.  He went to bed for the night at 10 pm, and slept all the way through until 3 am. I took him out to pee at 3 am, and brought him straight back to his crate to sleep some more and he made it until 5:30 am.  John, my husband brought him out that time and he didn't think he went but we put him back in the crate where he finally started whimpering for awhile, but then went back to bed until 8 am.  He peed and ate breakfast at that time.  All day long today on his second day, he has been peeing, drinking and eating, but still hasn't pooped! I think he's just still a bit depressed and stressed.  We all love him so much already!!!

Pictures of the first two days coming later tonight!
